The main qualification offered by the EIDTS is the Licentiate in Theology (LTh).
Papers are offered as individual papers as well as being part of
certificate courses, eg. Stand-Alone Certificate, Ministry Certificate, the Associate
Diploma and for those who have gained their LTh, the Diploma, Scholar in Theology (STh).
For each paper a unit outline, a study guide and readings are provided.
One or two textbooks are generally required. Each paper has a tutor who
is available for advice, help and marking of assignments.
The following certificate courses are available. Refer to the subject descriptions page for descriptions of the courses shown below.

This is a level 6, 15 unit Diploma Course approved by NZ Qualifications Authority. It is designed to provide students with a sound, broad-based theological qualification. It satisfies the needs of those who wish to expand their understanding, as well as those who require a qualification for Christian ministry. See details. |

For single papers. This award
recognizes that some people may never want to complete a full LTh but
may wish to do one or two papers for interest. Each paper will receive
recognition in the form of a certificate. Papers offered in such a way
will be individual papers from the LTh programme. |

FOUR papers required in any ONE area: Worship and Preaching, Pastoral Ministry, Rural Ministry, Church in Context, New Testament Studies or Hebrew Scriptures. The Ministry Certificate enables a student to specialise in any one or more of five different fields as shown below (the papers are all LTh papers):

The Associate Diploma may be gained by attaining eight passes in a single subject area (as outlined below), or by eight passes across four subject areas (as outlined below). A. EIGHT papers required
in any ONE area: An Associate Diploma can allow people to
specialise in a subject of their choice.

An advanced diploma, Scholar in Theology (STh), is open to candidates who have gained the LTh (or approved equivalent) with an average grade of B in the area in which they propose to specialise. (Qualifications gained through other schools, colleges or universities will be assessed by the Academic Committee by making application through the Academic Registrar.) The STh enables the student to extend their studies in a particular area of interest. A is required to research a topic and to write a thesis of 25,000 to 30,000 words.
